Lala Virginia Pickard, age 86
October 12, 1918
October 7, 2005

Mrs. Pickard passed away Friday morning at the Trinity Mission, Italy, TX. She was born in Cedar Hill, TX to Franklin E. and Cora Lee (Cooper) Tuley. She graduated from Cedar Hill High School where she was a star basketball player. Lala married James F. Pickard October 21, 1939. She was employed as a secretary with the Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas for twenty five years, and a longtime member of Farley Street Baptist Church. Her life revolved around her children; grandchildren, and checking on her shut in friends. She and her husband enjoyed horses and traveling.

Lala is survived by: her son,Gerald Pickard and wife Janice of Waxahachie; three grandchildren, Griff and Sarah Pickard; Emily and Lex Gortman; Garth Pickard and two great-grandchildren, Emma Pickard and Olivia Gortman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday 6-8 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her life will be a graveside service 10:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2005 at Rhodes Cemetery in Duncanville on Cockrell Hill Rd.
