Kristin Boyd

June 13, 1976 — July 16, 2019

Kristin Kathleen Boyd was born on June 13, 1976 in Victoria, Texas and from the moment of her birth was a bright light that lit our world with joy that she shared for the rest of her life.  She left this world on July 16, 2019 and now is in the company of God who is the source of all light.  We take comfort that she is with the beloved people and animals that have gone before her.

We, who loved the very soul of her spirit, have been diminished and the world doesn’t seem quite as bright. But her example will always remind us that if we are brave, live life in the present and stay true to the course that God has given us we will all be reunited through Christ.

From the time that Kristin was a child she seemed to know that her life would lead to a career that embodied the courage that it would take to serve others under the most difficult circumstances.  She attended the University of Kansas but followed her true calling and became a paramedic in Texas.  She worked for eight years with the Austin EMS and attained excellence in her field.  Her total focus despite personal risk, was on saving lives.

Kristin taught those who knew her that life is precious and she mourned each life lost.  She exemplified the individuals who serve in the military, the police force, paramedics and firefighters.  All who serve have one thing in common; when there is danger to others they run toward that danger while others run away.   Kristin ran toward danger just as she ran toward life in everything she did.

Kristin furthered her education by attending Our Lady of the Lake University in Baton Rouge and received a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in order to teach others in the medical emergency field.  She held herself to the highest standards during her career.

The other great loves of her life were her family, music, animals and archeology.  She rescued her pets from shelters and had recently adopted a mustang and a donkey to keep them from going to slaughter. Kristin was happiest when she was training her horse, digging for fossils, cooking for her friends and laughing.  She loved to give special gifts to those she loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand to care for others. She lived without pretense and lived her own truth.

Kristin is survived by Jennifer Sorrell, her daughter Mary Margaret Sorrell;  the parents Dr. Karen Medford Boyd-Wuertz and Jim Wuertz,  David Boyd and Doris Boyd.  Siblings, her twin brother, Lt. Cmdr. Jeremy Boyd, ret. Navy, his wife Elizabeth their children Jack and Emma; her sister Jenny Boyd served U.S. Army, her children David and Elijah; Brandon Kocian and wife Anne, their children Harper and Francis Marie; Eric Wuertz and Bethany Wuertz, their children, Lily and Lydia; and Adam Wuertz.
