Kenneth Wright, Jr., a native and former resident of Chanute, passed on on September 16, 2007, at DeSoto , TX . He was born in Chanute on November 20, 1927; his father, Kenneth Wright, was superintendent of the Ash Grove Cement Plant and his mother, Signe Nelson, was from a pioneer Swedish family.
Ken graduated from Kansas State University , where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity; he later became a "Life Loyal Sig." He married Marcia Throckmorton on June 9, 1951.
Ken worked as a chemical engineer in Louisiana , Oklahoma , Texas , Algeria , and Nigeria . He became an internationally known leader in ammonia and fertilizer production. Wherever he lived he became active in the community, particularly Lions Club and the Episcopal Church. In 1995 the Wrights retired to Waxahachie , TX .
Survivors include his wife, Marcia, Waxahachie,TX, two daughters, Carrie Cate, Brenham, TX, and Cathy Wright, Keams Canyon, AZ, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wright III, Fort Worth , TX , and the Rev. Andrew and the Rev. Melanie Wright, Columbia, MD, two brothers, Richard Wright, Urbandale, IA, and Dean Wright, Lincoln, NE, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Safari Museum or Grace Episcopal Church, Chanute.
Services will be held October 6 at St. Paul 's Episcopal Church, Waxahachie , TX , with burial at a later date at Swede Center Cemetery , Chanute.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
