Kenneth Randall “Randy” Miller

Randy Miller, 69, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by his family on October 23, 2024. Randy was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on March 22, 1955, to Mary Sue (Baber) and Kenneth Argus Miller. He was the baby brother to a proud big sister, Kenda Sue Miller.

After graduating from high school in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 1973, he attended the University of Oklahoma for a few semesters. He also worked in the oil fields and pipeline management in West Texas. During this time, his parents moved to Graham, Texas, where he was introduced to his future wife, Melinda, by a mutual friend.

Randy continued to work in West Texas to support Melinda’s dream of attending anesthesia school. He was very proud of her ambition, talent, and work ethic. After her graduation, they married on May 16, 1981, in Graham, Texas. After their marriage, they lived in Arlington, Texas, for 20 years, where Randy made many lifelong friends. His favorite job was at Bell Helicopter, working on classified projects. He also had careers as a surgical tech, business owner, and medical equipment courier.

Randy and Melinda were blessed with two children, Randall and Mary Beth, one son-in-law, Mark, and a bonus son, James. Randy found great joy in supporting his children’s dreams and being involved in their daily lives. There was no one on this earth he was prouder of than his children. He was also overjoyed to be “Pappy” to his four grandchildren: Whitley, Brooklyn, Logan, and Reece. He truly enjoyed being available for all the small things they needed and making lasting memories with them. Some of his favorite hobbies included knife making, cooking, hunting, and fishing, especially when shared with friends and family.

Randy's greatest gift was his capacity for people and nurturing relationships. He never met a stranger and was never short on time (or a good story). If you were interested in something, so was he. And if you needed a listening ear, a car ride, or a quick trip across the country, he was your guy. He loved belonging to a church and serving people. Randy took great pride in serving at the coffee bar at The Avenue Church. He was thrilled to be of use. This is his legacy.

Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Melinda Beth Miller of Waxahachie. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren: Randall Payne Miller (grandsons Logan Rex and Reece Alexander “Pappy’s little buddy”), and Mary Beth (Miller) Wainscott and husband Mark (granddaughters Whitley Elizabeth and Brooklyn Marie).

Randy is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Kenneth Argus Miller, Mary Sue Miller, and Kenda Sue Miller.
