Kenneth Hicks

September 8, 1950 — August 14, 2016

Our family gained another Guardian Angel when Kenneth Wayne Hicks, known to his family and friends as Dad, Big Kenny, Poppo, Uncle Kenny and Uncle Scooter went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday August 14th, 2016.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to many people. He spent most of his life loving Betty Kaye Hicks who he said many times was the love of his life. He was an avid sports fan who gave many hours coaching football, soccer and baseball. He helped build the Maypearl baseball program by creating something at Wilemon field that would be known as a field of dreams. These dads were given a blank cotton field and made a ball park where he was there every step of the way. There were also many hunting stories from anyone privileged to hunt with him. Many of the people of Maypearl know him as "The Knife Guy", because later in life he enjoyed traveling to trade shows with his wife and kids selling knives and jewelry. One thing about Kenny that no one can deny is that he would try to help you out in any situation you were in. However, you better be ready for the honest truth to follow because he never left a single person in the dark about how he felt, which is why he will be missed so much.

The most important part of his life, besides Kaye, was his kids and grandkids and upcoming great-grandchild. He retired from Vought Corporation after 16 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his life long love of 48 years; Kaye Hicks, son Kenneth Wayne Hicks Jr. and wife Shannon of Maypearl and their children Brett and wife Ashley Hicks, Dusty Hicks and Sami Hicks all of Maypearl. Son Kevin Hicks of Waxahachie and his daughters Marlee Hicks, Kristen and husband Brendan Biggs. Numerous brothers and sisters as well as nieces and nephews either blood or extended that loved him all the same.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, mother and father-in law. He now walks in Heaven with Eugene and Mae Bell Hicks, Ola and Y.J. Brigman as well as his guardian angel, Rusty Ryan Hicks.
