Kenneth Melton Denney, 67 of Whitney, formerly of Red Oak, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 26, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to K. E. "Pinky" Denney and Frances Bradley Denney. Kenney Graduated from Red Oak High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served our country from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam Conflict. He met and then married the love of his life, Charlotte V. Bays and they had two sons, Kenneth L. and DeWayne M. Kenney started his firefighting career at the age of sixteen. He dedicated over thirty years of service to the community of Red Oak. He worked his way up through the ranks and retired as the Fire Chief of the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his father and mother, K. E. "Pinky" Denney & Frances Denney, and his father in law, Lloyd E. Bays. He is survived by his loving bride of 43 years, Charlotte, and his two sons and their spouses; Kenneth L. & Jeannie, DeWayne & Brandi; his sisters, Charlotte & Steve Yeadon , Sue Bradley; and one brother, Mark Denney; his mother in law, Etta J Bays; he is also survived by three granchildren, Kent, Megan, & Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews; brothers and sister in laws; and many friends. No flowers as per his request. The family will be receiving guests at his home in Whitney. A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
