Keith S. Johnston, Jr., 85 of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born on May 24, 1923 in Waxahachie.
Mr. Johnston was a graduate of Forreston High School and attended Trinity College before leaving to join the Merchant Marines and serving our country from 1942 to 1947. He retired from Western Electric on December 31, 1983 after working there 37 years. After retirement he moved back to Forreston to the family farm. He was an avid fisherman. He followed and loved the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Dallas Mavericks. He loved taking his boys to their football practices and games and watching them play in High School and College. He enjoyed gardening and giving away his fine vegetables to family and friends. Mr. Johnston served as an Elder at the Central Presbyterian Church of Waxhachie. He loved his family and many friends and will be missed by so many who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 52 years, JoAnn Johnston of Waxahachie; three sons, Larry Keith Johnston and wife Sandra of Dripping Springs, Ronald Lee Johnston and wife Judy of McKinleyville, CA., David Wayne Johnston and wife Sandy of Fairview, Texas. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Brenda Drumm and husband, Mike, Lissette Johnston and fiance, Brian, Ashley Johnston, Joshua Johnston and wife, Erica, Gabrial Johnston and wife, Emily, Lindsey Stewart and husband, Donny, Travis Johnston, Grant Johnston, Reid Johnston; 1 great granddaughter, Thalia Johnston; and numerous cousins, neices and nephews.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his parents, Keith S. Johnston, R. and Ora Bell Lumpkins Johnston; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Forreston Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie with Reverend Anna Whitehead officiating.
Visitation for the family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
