Katie Ruth Thompson, age 86

Mrs. Thompson passed away Wednesday at Laurenwood Nursing Home in Duncanville. She was born in Rockett to C. E. and Beulah Viola (Shelton) Sutton. She attended Rockett School and graduated from Ferris High School. She and Garrell Thompson were married in 1941. Mrs. Thompson had been employed as a teller for the 1st National Bank of Duncanville and clerk for Clemmers Pharmacy, also of Duncanville. She loved to travel. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist of Duncanville.

Her survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Joyce Ann Thompson and Jerry and Jean Thompson, all of Midlothian; sister, Frances Blalock of Forney; niece, June Carol Muir; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Friday, August 4, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with John Wheatley and Jeff Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Thompson, Trent Thompson, Todd Thompson, Chris Muir, Spencer Avery, and Jeff Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brendon West, Wayne Thompson, Coy Thompson, Woodrow Thompson, Van Sutton, Olin Glenn Johnson, and David Reagon. Interment will follow in the Bells Chapel Cemetery, Rockett, Texas.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
