Kathryn Fourtner

June 20, 1945 — October 1, 2016

Kathryn Sherill Fourtner, 71, of Red Oak, Texas passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at home in Red Oak, Texas surrounded by family and friends. Kathy was born on June 20,1945 in San Francisco, CA to the late Charles Keith Robinette and Mildred Robinette. She married her husband, Gary E. Fourtner, on August 18, 1967 while in college and graduated from Oklahoma State University with her Bachelor's and Master's degree, both in Education. Kathy had a true passion for reading her Bible, always learning and teaching others about our Lord and Savior. She began her teaching career in Oklahoma after college then moved to Texas in 1978 with her husband and 2 children, Gary L. and Amy, as she continued her teaching at Red Oak ISD. Shortly after, she joined her husband, Gary, in their fundraising business working with high school agriculture and band departments. After retirement she continued to substitute for Duncanville and Midlothian ISD for many years.

Kathy was larger than life! She had an infectious smile, laugh and bright outlook on life. She was very independent and loved to do things at the spur of the moment. She was always up for an adventure, whether it was close to home or road trips with her Bible study girlfriends. She and her closest girlfriends were referred to as the "Golden Girls" and she would always put everyone's needs before her own. She will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Earl Fourtner; Children: Gary Lin Fourtner and Amy Lynn Barriga; Daughter-in-law: Alison Fourtner; 5 Grandchildren: Jordan Fourtner, Aspen Fourtner, Sergio Barriga, Seth Barriga and Vincent Barriga; Sister in-Law: Janeil Hendrex; Nephew: Eddie Hendrex; his daughter Crystal and a host of friends and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
