Kathryn Rae (Hutson) Cunningham, born August 15, 1956 to Velma Lorene Hutson and Hulen Ray Hutson; passed away at 4:05 am March 13, 2020 at the young age of 63. Kathy is survived by her loving husband Ronald Cunningham, her Daughters Kim and Kristina, son Kyle, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, Sisters Betty and Dianna and brother Glenn.
Kathy spent most of her adult life working in the automobile insurance industry where she rose to many supervisory positions while developing and maintaining close friendships with those who worked with her and for her. Everyone who worked with Kathy held her in the highest regard as hardworking, stern but fair, and always willing to lend a helping hand should her colleagues need one.
Kathy raised her children in Red Oak where she was a member of Highland Meadows Assembly of God church and taught Children’s Church for more than 30 years. Kathy would spend countless hours developing children’s church programs, plays, puppet characters and planning events ranging from Easter to the fall carnival. During this time Kathy spoke love, forgiveness, grace and Godly values into hundreds upon hundreds of children’s lives.
While raising her children Kathy maintained a full-time career, work with the church and still made time to be at every one of her children’s and grandchildren’s school and extra-curricular events and practices, while still finding the strength and energy to show love and compassion to everyone she met. Kathy loved to cook for her family, friends and co-workers. She was widely revered for having the best homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls and jello cake anyone had ever tasted.
Kathy will forever be remembered by her family and all who knew and loved her as a kind, loving and Godly woman who would and has given everything she had to help others. Kathy enjoyed her family and her children but above all LOVED being Grandma.
