Kathleen Batts

March 7, 1951 — July 21, 2024

Waxahachie, Texas

Kathy Batts made her final transition in the early morning of July 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Raised in Texarkana, Texas, she spent most of her life in Arlington, Texas before moving back to Texarkana to care for her mother.

After spending years away from her children and grandchildren while caring for her mother, Kathy decided to settle down in Waxahachie, Texas, to spend the last few years of her life making up for lost time. She enjoyed eating out, providing home-cooked meals, watching "Murder, She Wrote," and spending quality time with family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her brother Richard, sister Tanya (Glenn), brother Greg (Sarah), sister Jan (Richard), children Kimberly (Mike), Steven, Kevin, and stepchildren Christopher, Brandi, and April (Brandon). She also leaves behind several devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Haskell, mother Edith, husband David, and grandson Parker.

In her prime, Kathy was a beautician—a true expert of her time. Her exceptional skills led her to become an instructor at a beauty college and to open her own salon at home, transforming part of her garage into a salon. Kathy was intelligent and could have pursued any career, but she loved to teach and make people feel beautiful. It was in this industry that she met her late husband, David, and together they shared a passion for making people feel their absolute best.

Outside of work, Kathy and David shared another well-known passion: caring for animals, especially strays. After David's passing, Kathy's love for animals continued to grow. It was evident that these animals held a special place in her heart. She always put their needs before her own, ensuring they were well-loved and taken care of.

Her quick departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, deeply felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember the incredible person she was.
