Katherine Mckee

Our angel mother, Katherine Deneice (Street) McKee, took her last breath on earth and first breath in Heaven on February 13, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ.  She was born on January 29, 1924 to Lee Watson and Susie Caroline (Boyles) Street in Wayne County, Mississippi.

Memories are like snapshots living in our hearts we’ll cherish and treasure forever.  She lived her life with great contentment in the Lord and left an immeasurable legacy of love behind 1) as an amazing woman of God with impeccable character, who lived her life transparently with a culture of honor and integrity unto the Lord and 2) as an extraordinary gracious lady with the most patient, gentle and kind spirit who never raised her voice towards her husband, children, loved ones, friends, colleagues nor anyone else.  She lived by the Golden Rule and taught us to always treat everyone as though it was the last time we’d ever see them so there’s no regrets.

She was a graduate of Beat Four High School and married Paul McKee in Wayne County on November 8, 1942.  They moved to Mobile, Alabama where she was employed as a secretary for two years at Brookley Field Air Force Base.  In 1952, they moved their family to Waxahachie, Texas which became their permanent home.  Mrs. McKee dearly loved children and they dearly loved her.  She managed an in-home daycare for six years and the children cried to stay with her when their parents came to take them home.  She was employed 12 years at Southwestern Bible College, now known as SAGU, as an assistant manager of the Bookstore and Post Office and later was Secretary for the Dean’s Office, then the Registrar’s Office, and lastly the President’s Office.  She retired after 45 years of employment at Christ For the Nations, Inc. in Dallas after serving in various roles as Secretary, Office Manager of Mailroom Department, and Accountants Receivables Assistant for Human Resources.

Her favorite travel destinations included going to Mississippi to spend every Christmas with her parents and sisters, going to visit sisters in Alabama, vacationing in Vail, Colorado, and sightseeing for bears in the Great Smoky Mountains located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  She enjoyed traveling abroad on a two-week tour of Germany and later a two-week tour to visit the Holy Land: Cairo, Egypt; Rome, Italy; Athens, Greece; Beirut, Lebanon; and Lisbon, Portugal.

As a youth, she enjoyed plowing beside her father in the field with mules.  During that time to surprise her father, she used an ax and secretly chopped a road through the woods for his easy access to her Grandma’s house.  Today this is a two-way paved public road used daily by residents.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, ironing, washing dishes, listening to gospel music, reading devotionals and the Bible.  She was fabulous cook and very well known for baking the most delicious pecan tarts to share with her family and loved ones she called “friends”.  The greatest delight of her heart was spending time playing games, talking with and enjoying all her grand, great and great- great Grand Darlings located in Texas, Arizona, and Kansas.

Survivors include her three daughters Paulette and Burrell Thompson, Judy Tittle and Mike Tidwell and Rev. Sheila Hollis; includes six grandchildren Paul Thompson, Kristi and Mike Papa, Scott Thompson, Jeff Tittle and Stephanie Bivins, Jason Hollis, Brandon and Danielle Hollis; includes 13 great grandchildren: Rebekah Clark and Chris Sandos, Dillan Clark, Morgan Clark, Isabelle Papa, Bradley Clark, Ashley Bell, Drew Tittle, Marnilee Tittle, London Hollis, Sophia Hollis, Bodhi Hollis, Sloan Hollis and Greenly Hollis; two great- grandchildren Maddalyn Sandos and Skarlette Sandos.  Other extended family includes Lisa Tittle, Jennifer Hollis Boyles, and Brad Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, husband Paul McKee, two sons-in-law Jimmy Tittle and Rev. Phil Hollis and one grandson, James Paul Tittle.

Family visitation will be from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.  Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel, and burial immediately following at Dallas Ft. Worth Military Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
