Karen Elaine Shipp, age 39

Mrs. Shipp passed away Sunday at her Lufkin residence. She was born in New Orleans, LA. to Clarence and Alice (Lyon) Gladney. She had worked in the healthcare field for eighteen years, first in healthcare administration and then as a registered nurse. Most recently, she had been employed at Woodland Heights Medical Center. Mrs. Shipp was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, daughter and sister. She was a member of Carpenter's Way Baptist Church, and had resided in Lufkin for the past five years.

Survivors are: her husband, Michael Shipp of Lufkin; parents, Alice (Lyon) and Clarence Gladney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jedon and David Shinpaugh of Whitney, Cindy and Gary Haden of Red Oak; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Georgie Gladney, Junior and Melissa Gladney , all of Waxahachie; Jimmy and Shannon Gladney of Grand Prairie; sister, Christin Gladney of Midlothian; nephew, Dallas Ryan of Midlothian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family received friends in the Lufkin area Tuesday 6-8 PM at the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home. Memorial services were 6:30 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Carpenter's Way Baptist Church in Lufkin with Pastor Steve Sparks officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives in the Waxahachie area 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 1 PM Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, 315 N. Rogers, Waxahachie, Texas 75165, with Dr. Gene Wilkes and Reverend Steve Sparks officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Hicks, Randy Lawson, Carlton Koym, Stacey Whitt, Vincent Korthuis and Brandon Mitchell. Interment will follow in the Midlothian Cemetery, Midlothian, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904; to the Humane Society of Angelina County, 1102 N. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904; or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 362 S. Industrial Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75207.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
