Judge Sage, Jr.

Judge Clyde ( J .C.) Sage, Jr. was born on February 05, 1931 in Tahoka, Texas to Judge Clyde Sage, Sr. and Thelma Irene (Robey) Sage.  He was the seventh of nine children.

J.C. was about 12 years old when he moved with the family to Rising Star, Texas, where he helped his dad raise peanuts and watermelons.  He attended school there and graduated from the Rising Star High School in 1948.  After high school, J.C. went to work for Oilwell Supply until being drafted into the Army in 1951.  After his discharge from the Army, he attended Abilene Christian College and graduated with a degree in accounting.  He went to work for U.S. Steel as an auditor until his retirement.

While working in the Metroplex, J.C. met and married Nita Williams who was the love of his life. They were married for 51 years when Nita passed away.

J.C. enjoyed fishing and often, through the years went to Lake Texoma every chance he got.  He stayed with Jack and Juanita Haggerton and their children.  His brother in law, Jack, was his fishing buddy and close friend.

J.C. loved his family very much and enjoyed visiting with his many family member every chance he had.  His nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart and he loved them all dearly.

After Nita’s death, J.C. moved to Abilene where he was surrounded with family.  He particularly enjoyed Thursday evening Bluegrass.  He lived the remainder of his life in Abilene.

J.C. Sage went to his heavenly home on October 27, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his wife Nita, his parents, Clyde and Thelma Sage; Brothers Orville Sage and William Harrison (Bill) Sage and Sisters Helen Hensley, Juanita Haggerton, Mary Cutbirth and Charlene Grisham.

J.C. is survived by two sisters, Ruby Reed of Odessa, Texas and Janet Ellison of Clyde, Texas and a host of many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Darlene Trowbridge and James Cutbirth for the loving care they provided to J.C. in his last years of life.

A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Smith Cemetery in Ellis County.

Arrangement are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.
