Juanita Sweatman

August 24, 1915 — February 4, 2013

Juanita Marie Sweatman graciously passed through this life to join her Lord on Monday, February 04, 2013 at the age of 97 years. She was born on August 24, 1915 in Temple , Texas the daughter of Harl and Estelle Solomon. Her family resided in Belton , Texas where she attended schools until she graduated from Belton High School in 1933, always keeping in touch with those dear friends. Juanita continued to further her education at Mary Hardin Baylor College , but met the love of her life, Bob Sweatman, and they were married for 52 years before his passing in 1988. Their family moved to Waxahachie in 1947, and Juanita dearly loved the town where she worshipped, worked and was socially active with friends and in city events. She was a righteous lady who loved the Lord and was full of wit and laughter. For more than fifty years, Juanita was an active member of The First Baptist Church playing the piano for classes and events, singing in the choir, and enjoying various church activities and committees. For many years she played the piano at the Waxahachie Century Club meetings, and she supported the very first Gingerbread Trail Tour of Homes. Juanita would always say that the Lord had blessed her with a gift of music, and it was a true gift to her as well as to all of us. She enjoyed using the gift whenever and wherever she was needed, whether it was playing hymns, Big Band Music or all kinds of music. She even wrote her own World War II Ballad and it was published. Most of all, Juanita loved being a "homemaker". She was a loving wife, mother, gardener and cook who loved sharing her preserves, flower arrangements, "Tea Cake Cookies" and cinnamon rolls with her family, friends and neighbors. She sewed numerous dance costumes and formals for her two girls and it was important that everyone in the family had a crocheted item to keep from her. She loved her grandchildren and it was a strong will that all family children attend Vacation Bible School in the summer. Preparing for family gatherings was fun for her and she was gracious host as well as guest. Juanita leaves behind her two daughters, Phyllis Sulcer and husband John of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Nita Jean Jordan and husband Steve of Katy, Texas . Her brother Bob Solomon and wife Lynn of Nacogdoches, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Hubbard and husband Carter of Loveland, Colorado. She had eight grandchildren who gave her great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews and a host of friends. We shall miss Juanita, Mom, Nana and we celebrate her life and the fact that we got to share it. What A Life!!!!
