Joyce S. Williams, 86 of Waxahachie passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 in a Waxahachie nursing home. She was born to the late John G. & Bertha M. Bell Smith on August 3, 1922 in Frost.
Joyce graduated high school from Frost. She opened a Diner in Frost then moved on to the Haggar Clothing Factory in Waxahachie. She also worked at Citizens State Bank in Frost as a teller. Joyce married Rev. Frank R. Williams, Jr. on a Sunday morning October 14, 1962 after the regular church services were concluded to the congregations surprise. This began 40 plus years of dedicated service for them both in the Central Texas United Methodist Church organization. Joyce was very active in every church they pastored and took the role of being the pastor's wife very serious. She was very involved in the ladies ministry and various other functions of the church. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Russell Williams and his wife, Judi of Waxahachie; her sister, Fanell Dunagan of Frost; her beloved grandchildren, Lindsey & Chase Williams of Waxahachie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Frank R. Williams, Jr.; her sister, Sarah Helen "Tommie" Moore; and her parents.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Frost Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
