Joyce Eckeberger, age 76

Mrs. Eckeberger, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Tuesday at Baylor Medical Center Waxahachie. She was born in Palmer, TX. to Bob and Clara (Brazier) Ranton. Joyce graduated from Waxahachie High School. She and Weldon Eckeberger were married November 25, 1945 in Waxahachie. She was of a farming family, helping with her family and husband. Mrs. Eckeberger was employed as an upholstery seamstress with Flexsteel for fifteen years. Joyce enjoyed her dogs, watching TV, cold cups of coffee, and holiday cooking. She was a great cook but would not sell her recipes. She was a member of the Rebekka Lodge #381 and the South Prong Baptist Church.

She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Keith Eckeberger and LaDonna Sue of Ennis; brothers, Lewis Ranton and his wife Carol of Gainesville, James Ranton and his wife JoAnn of Waxahachie, and Butch Ranton of Ennis; sister , Bobbie Kitchens and husband Mitch of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Gwendolyn and her husband Weldon.

Viewing was 6-9 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-9 Friday also at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Saturday, December 18, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Bruce Zimmerman and Shane Roberts officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Fenton, Lee Goodwin, Joe Aleman, Glen Archer, Alvi Hollingworth, and Darrell May. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery.
