Joy Ann French Southard, 72 of Avalon, passed away surrounded by her family at her home on Saturday, January 12, 2008. She was born to the late S. V. & Luella Watts French on June 21, 1935 in Milford.

Joy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avalon. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going bowling. Her greatest past time was shopping with her girls and spending time with her family. She loved taking care of Sonny and enjoyed spending the last 51 years of her life with him. Joy will be greatly missed by her family and so many friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, H. L. Sonny Southard of Avalon; daughters, Lisa Macalik and her husband, Edward of Avalon, Brenda Sills and her husband, Ron of Bardwell; sisters, Rose Killebrew of Lubbock, Nell Hart and her husband, Malcolm of Waco, Sue Winningham and her husband, Jack of Waxahachie; brother, Darrell French and his wife, Bonita of Duncanville; grandchildren, Ryan Anderson, Britney Beck, Steven Isabell, Kim Macalik, and Paul Macalik; great grandson, Cody Isabell.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Berta White; and brothers, Darwood and James Lee French.

Services to celebrate Joy's life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Cleve Clark and Rev. Grady Cashion officiating. Interment will follow at Hughes Cemetery in Avalon.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
