Joseph Edmund Lane (80 yrs) was born on October 15, 1928 to James Jefferson Lane and Augusta Koschella Lane in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed away gently from this life on the morning of January 15, 2009 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie, Texas. There will be a visitation 5-7 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. There will be a Rosary at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Seymour, Texas. Burial will be in Megargel Cemetery in Megargel, Texas. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

He attended school at The Academy of Mary Immaculate and Reagan High School in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1951 he went to work for "The Texas Pipeline Company" (later to become Texaco). He retired from Texaco-Basin System in 1988 after 37 years employment. He worked as a pipeliner, station operator and station supervisor. His station places were Wichita Falls, Midland, Colorado City, Seymour and Corsicana, Texas.

He married Marcella Darilek on April 15, 1950 in Megargel, Texas. He was the father of 7 children; 4 sons and 3 daughters. He was fondly called "Deddy" by his children.
He married Doris Beck on July 21, 1991 in Waxahachie, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home in Waxahachie, Texas.
He is survived by his children, Joel and Kaye Lane of Rule, Texas, Danny and Sandy Lane of Seymour, Texas, Connie and Sam Boone of Seymour, Texas, Andy and Janice Lane of Megargel, Texas, Steve and Lisa Lane of Seymour, Texas, Valerie and Rex McCallister of Bowie, Texas, Teena and Darrell Moore of Seymour, Texas AND the mother of his children, Marcella Lane of Seymour, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is further survived by his step children, Jay Lee and Sharon Beck, Cindy and Steve Buchanan, Gerald and Natalie Beck, all of Waxahachie, Texas; eight step grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. He is survived by a brother, C. L. Lane and sister-in-law, Mrs. James Lane, both of Wichita Falls, Texas. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Alfred G. Lane and James Lane, two sisters, Jeanette Walton and Gloria Humphreys. He is survived by four nephews and 6 nieces.
