Johnny Thompson

Johnny Camera Thompson of Waxahachie, Texas passed away March 5, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Waxahachie after a long illness. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the funeral service at Cope Cemetery in Burleson, Texas.

Johnny Thompson was born on December 18, 1929 in Alta Villa, Italy to the late Genaro Camera and Rosaria Laurina. Johnny was adopted by Claren (Curly) Thompson of Waxahachie, Texas. Johnny worked many years in the steel industry with Lofland Steel as a Plant Manager. Johnny was the Honorary Mascot of the 36th Infantry Division and he was loved and greatly honored for his service. Johnny served his country in the US Navy. As a young boy in Italy he was, for a better term, adopted by a group of service men, and they were instrumental in helping Johnny get to America where he made dreams come true. One of his dreams was to have a beautiful family and be the best father any man could be. Thus he did with honor, love, respect, and dignity.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Genaro Camera and Rosaria Laurina. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters; Rosina, Graziella, and Tarsilla.

Johnny Thompson is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, his son Johnny C. Thompson II and his wife Lavonne ; two daughters Rosina Will and her husband John of Garland, Texas; Johnna Breedon and her husband H.P. of Waxahachie, Texas. Five grandchildren; Eric Will, Calli Thompson, Trey Thompson, Aidan Breedon, Mary Breedon. One great granddaughter, Blakley Johnson.

Johnny Thompson will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew this man of strength and passion.
