Johnnie Ray Wiggins, age 81
April 30, 1923
September 24, 2004

Mr. Wiggins passed away at his Waxahachie residence Friday. He was born in Alvarado, TX. to John Walker and Amelia Myrtle (Bilbrey) Wiggins. He was Valedictorian of his graduating class of Alvarado High School. He married Mable Branam January 5, 1943 in Alvarado. Johnnie served in the US Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theatre 1942-1944. After retiring from General Dynamics of Ft. Worth in 1980, he had a TV Repair Shop on Ferris Avenue. Mr. Wiggins was employed with the Waxahachie Independent School District for seven years. He was a member of the Gideons and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Wiggins served as a Deacon for over fifty years at Ferris Avenue Baptist Church where he was a member. He was a Royal Ambassadors Leader and District 13 Baptist Camp Director at Lake Lavon Baptist Encampment. Mr. Wiggins loved his kids and grandkids.

Survivors are: one son, Johnnie Wiggins of Waxahachie; two daughters, Cherry Rice, also of Waxahachie, and Barbara Sexton and husband James of Genoa, AR.; brothers, Vernon Albert Wiggins and wife Valerie of Kennedale and Floyd Alton (Cotton) Wiggins of Alvarado; twin sister, Myrtle Faye Jackson of Azle; eight grandsons; one great great grandson and one great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mike, and son-in-law, Jessie Rice.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10 AM Monday, September 27, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Ken Ansell of the Frontier Church and Reverend David Brown officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
