John "Jw" Townley

John Wesley (JW) Townley was born February 6, 1936 in Rural Shade, Texas to Ruby & Jeff Townley. John passed away January 6, 2020 at the age of 83 in Waxahachie, Texas.

He served as a fireman for the Waxahachie Fire Department and a contract painter on his days off. After his service at the fire department he worked at Owens Corning in Waxahachie.

John was known for his charismatic personality. He never met a stranger. IF you had the pleasure of meeting him then chances are, he called you a friend. John was a devoted family man, he took pride in his family and always bragged on them. He kept up with each and every family member and was always up for a family gathering. He always had a joke and could tell stories all day long. He will be missed by everyone.

John is preceded in death by his father Jeff and mother Ruby, infant sons Johnny & Travis and first granddaughter Donna.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce, daughter Becky Pate and husband Arvin, daughter Linda Martin, son Tony Townley and wife Andrea, son Derek Townley and wife LaTanya. Grandchildren Kayla Tucker and husband Chris, Jeff Ballard and wife Marrisa, Tony Townley JR and wife Heather, Michael Ballard and wife Whitney, Candice Lankford, LaKota Townley and Brody Townley. 15 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers LT Townley, George Townley and sister Carolyn Wyant along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Friends and family are encouraged to gather for a time of visitation on Friday, January 10, 2020 fom 6 to 8 in the evening at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Services celebrating JW’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10 o’clock in the morning in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Long Prairie Alligator Cemetery in Kernes, Tx.
