John P. Woodard, age 79

Mr. Woodard passed away Sunday at the Pleasant Manor Health and Rehab in Waxahachie. He was born in Rankin, TX. to James Floyd and Julia Woodard Eckeberger. He married Doris Marie Endler January 28, 1962 in Oklahoma. J. P. was employed with Ennis Business Forms for 39 years. After retirement, he worked at the Waxahachie Wal Mart store, retiring there after ten years of service. J. P. was a member of the South Prong Baptist Church and Baptist Brotherhood. His hobby was spending time with his family.

His survivors include: his wife, Doris Woodard of Waxahachie; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Chong Suk Woodard of San Antonio, Johnny and Alice Woodard of Carrolton, Jerry and Robin Woodard of Dallas, and Joe and Alterra Woodard of Garland; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Jimmie White of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Rhonda and Gary Phillips of Cedar Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Woodard of Ennis; sisters, Juanita Young and husband Nolan, Charlene Hollowell, Bess Heine and husband Horace, Jackie Oliver and husband Larry, all of Ennis; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Woodard; and sister, Dee Patterson.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Gerald Prewitt and Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Hall, Jack Stroope, Glen Rasco, Ronney Gray, Billy Wayne Widner and Ralph Williamson. Interment will follow in the Bristol Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750, Dallas, TX. 75204 or www.alzdallas.org, or to South Prong Baptist Church.
