John Seabolt
May 1, 1924
June 27, 2008

J. H. "John" Seabolt, Jr., 84 of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 peacefully at home from the caring arms of his family to the loving arms of the Lord. John was born May 1, 1924 in Howard, Texas to the late J H Seabolt, Sr. and Dolly Shivers Seabolt.
He married the love of his life, Catherine Ballard Seabolt on May 21, 1944. They were happily married for 63 years. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2008. He served meritouriosly in World War II in the Europe and African Theaters in the United States Army and received the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in action on April 28, 1945 near Ponte de Nanto, Italy. When his platoon, leading a task force including tanks and armored vehicles, was engaged and placed in a precarious position by intense enemy fire, Private First Class Seabolt unhesitatingly carried a message to his company commander, thereby enabling him to take decisive action immediately to reinforce his platoon. His route lay along a road covered by continuous and effective enemy fire. Ditches which ran alongside of the road affored the only available cover, and were filled with deploying infantrymen. Sensing that using this cover would delay the delivery of his message, he boldly exposed himself to full view of the enemy, and took to the road itself, successfully reaching the command post with the vital communitcation. John's courage and devotion to duty reflects the highest traditions of the Infantry and Armed Forces of the United States.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Master Mason for 54 years. After 35 years of service he retired from LTV Aerospace as Manager of Logistics.
John is survived by two sons, Jim Seabolt and his wife Debbie of Waco, Texas and Glenn Seabolt and his wife Ann of Waxahachie, Texas; grandsons, Jody Seabolt, Ken Seabolt, John Seabolt, Wayne Rash; and granddaughter, Shae Thigpen; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services to celebrate John's life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Walter Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.
