John "Mike" Richey, Age 63
November 12, 1942
August 13, 2006

Mike passed away Sunday morning at Methodist Central Hospital. Mike was born in Greenville, Texas to Loyd M. "Jack" Richey and Berniece M. (Gist) Richey. He graduated from North Dallas High School and was a 1962 graduate of the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He was a Funeral Director for 40 years in the Metroplex, last working for Wayne Boze Funeral Home. His last few years were spent as a tax consultant with American Properties Tax Consulting.

He married his "child bride" Ruth Boyce Lavender on April 23, 1987 in Cedar Hill. They moved to White Bluff Resort Community in Whitney in December of 2004.

They enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, visiting with friends, playing cards and traveling. He charmed everyone with his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Ruth of White Bluff; Four sons: Michael Richey of Arkansas; Steven Lavender of Tuscan, Arizona; Matt Lavender and his wife Kishen of Ovilla; Ranall Lavender of New Braunfels; Two daughters:Jeanette Hughs of Ft. Worth and Shante Scesney of Cedar Hill; Six grandchildren: Brittney, Cody, and Isabella Hughs; Hunter and Charles Lavender, and Will Scesney; One Brother: Loyd Richey and his wife Kathy of Cedar Hill. He leaves behind his many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

His family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the White Bluff Chapel in the White Bluff Resort at Whitney, Texas, with Fathers Johnson Shannon and Jerry Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Scoggin, Max Bly, Paul Quast, Randal Rigger, Michael McCommon, and Tony White.

Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association and/or The American Cancer Society.
