Mr. Ortiz passed away February 12, 2009 in Dallas. He was born in Quanah, Texas April 3, 1947 to the late Juan and Jessie (Nicholson) Ortiz.

He worked and retired from Cap Rock as a customer service counselor.

His survivors include: his wife of 13 years, Jeanette Ortiz of Red Oak; daughter, Jeannie Marie Ortiz of Conway, AR.; brothers, Robert Starrett of Red Oak and David Ortiz of Dallas; sisters, Juanita (Nita) O'Daniel and Mary Starrett of Eugene, OR.; step-children
Raymond of Houston and Stacy Hunnicutt of Dallas; step-grandchildren, Cameron and Mason Hunnicutt of Houston; many nephews and nieces, as well as grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and a very special maternal aunt, Opal Armstrong of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pate and Jessie Starrett, as well as brothers, Mike Ortiz and Raymond Ortiz, all of Dallas.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Monday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 2 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2009 also at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be at Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
