John O'Daniel

1949 — January 1, 2018

Where does one begin with the story of Johnny O?

John was born at home to Floyd Edward and Nellie Jewel O'Daniel on August 30th 1949. Coming full circle he decided he also wanted to depart this world in his home. He left this world on Nov. 17th 2018. He was surrounded by his wife and daughters and from what he said there were a whole lotta other people everywhere. His terms, always his terms.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Robin. His daughters Mandy Ann O'Daniel, Jolyn O'Daniel Langhorne, step daughter Kristy Leigh Duris as well as five grand children and one great grand daughter. There are a multitude of O'Daniels from Waxahachie. They are a great and wonderful group of family that any man would be proud to claim and he was indeed proud to be one of them.

John loved sports. The Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers and the Texas Longhorns were among his favorites. He never missed a game and no one had better call when a game was on! He was an avid fisherman. All you had to do was call and he was out the door with his rod. Golf! Golf! Golf! He played it, he taught it, a passion for sure. As a scratch golfer, never let it be said he wouldn't play with anyone and be more than happy to take their money.

Music - his heart, his passion, his dream. This he pursued his entire life. Every breath he took, every thought he had, every step he made was in the pursuit of perfection in his chosen trade. He performed and wrote on many albums such as "Point Blank" 1976, "Second Season" 1977, "Airplay" 1979, "Legacy" 1996,  "Reloaded" 2006, "Fight On" 2009 and "Volume 9" 2014. All of these were performed by Point Blank.

Then you have the Stratoblasters with whom John played with for 31 years. He let it rip until the present with an incredibly talented group of players.  Lets not forget "Big Foot Johnson", the group that got him through his liver transplant in 1998. There were so many he created music with its impossible to mention them all. He had a peerless voice and a wonderful soul. He loved life, every single minute of it. He will be missed each and every day. Sing on Johnny O, sing on.
