John William "J.W." Mauldin, 91 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. He was born August 28, 1922 in Sylvester, Texas to Andrew Jack and Lula Elizabeth Smithey Mauldin. J.W. served in U.S. Army Air Corps., was a carrier for the U.S. Postal Services for 28 years and was proud to be a master electrician. He was an active participant at Farley Street Baptist since 1945 and became a member of Farley Street Baptist Church by baptism on August 28, 1949. He loved his Sunday school class, he dedicated his life to his church and loved being a Greeter on Sunday mornings. J.W. loved camping in the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado every summer. He enjoyed traveling the U.S. and the world visiting, Alaska, China, S.E. Asia, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Europe, Russia, England, Ireland, Greece, Turkey and Canada. He also loved attending local sporting events when able and listened to all the sporting events on the radio when he couldn't attend. He just loved helping people especially the elderly that needed his electrical skills. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Irma Mauldin, 1 daughter and son in law: Judy and Larry Linville of Waxahachie, Texas and Daughter: Sharon Mauldin of Midlothian, Texas. Grandchildren: William Rodgers of Midlothian, Texas and Elizabeth & Michael Dorn of New Braunfels, Texas. Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn Rodgers and Camden Rodgers. Sisters In Laws: Myrtle Mauldin of Carrolton, Texas and Jean Mauldin of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Earl Mauldin of Meadow, Texas, Raymond Mauldin of Waxahachie and Hack Mauldin of Ennis, Texas. 1 Great Grandchild: Tyler Rodgers. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Farley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Smith and Rev. Eddie Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to the Farley Street Baptist Church Building Fund.
