Mr. John Dobbs Foster, 93 of Waxahachie passed away June 28, 2009. He was born in Princeton, TX September 8, 1915 to John Paul and Alpha Ann Foster. January 20, 1940 he married his lovely wife Eleanor and celebrated 69 wonderful years.
John served his country in the US Army Air Corp. during WW II and the USAFR during the Korean Conflict being discharged from the reserves July 15, 1953. One of his first jobs was driving the Trolley in downtown Dallas and soon he worked for Brown Cracker Company. His longest endeaver was with Huey & Phelps Hardware Wholesalers receiving his 40 year pin just before retiring 7 years later. John was well known for his game of golf, mostly scratch golf. And of course the gang "Fearsome Foursome." He served on the Waxahachie Country Club board as Chairman for several years. Mostly he will be remembered by the family and friends as "a good man" respectful and highly respected; very honest, a good father.
Survivors are his loving wife Eleanor, daughter Joyce Lynn Foster, son Mitchel John Foster and his wife Sherrie, grandchildren: DayLynn Dodd, Brandy Nicole Dodd-Gilmore, great grand-children: Kourtney Twilligear, Erica Twilligear, LayCee Potts, Triston Gilmore, JessieRose Gilmore, and Bindi-Eve Gilmore, step great-grandchildren, Stephen Jeter, Jennifer Vestal and her husband Stevie. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Services will be at 9:45 AM Thursday at Christ The King Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Hemsath officiating. Pallbearers are: Royce Mollenkopf, Steuart Mollenkopf, Tracy Mollenkopf, Steve Foster, Jim Foster, and Doug Foster.
Interment will take place 12:00 noon at DFW National VA Cemetery in Dallas.
Services are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
