John Michael Bowman

John Michael Bowman, a Senior at Red Oak High School, passed away on May 29, 2007. He was born on January 16, 1985 in Irving, Texas to Jerry and Jackie Bowman. Although much too brief, John's life included more enthusiasm and adventure than most could pack in 100 years.

From piloting planes to monster truck rallies to winning gold medals, John's passion for seizing the moment was surpassed only by his desire to share the fun with friends and family. In every game and every adventure, John always wanted to be "the first winner," but was happiest when we were all "first winners" together! His ability to create lasting friendships with everyone he met will keep John's spirit with us for generations.

John is survived by: his parents, Jerry and Jackie; two sisters, Renee and Michele; one brother, Jason; two grandmothers, ‘Little Gram' and ‘Ma-maw'; one niece, Grayson; one nephew, Ocean; three aunts, Vickie, Ann and Judy; three uncles, Billy, Greg and Donnie; and numerous cousins. Near and dear to his heart, John also leaves behind an extended family of teachers and friends from Red Oak High School and the Red Oak community.

As his sister, Renee, recently wrote, "John, you did get to be the ‘first winner,' we only wish you hadn't left us so soon. You will forever be a part of us."

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Thursday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. A Celebration of John's life will be 10 AM Friday, June 1, 2007 also at the funeral home.
