Joel Bruce

Joel Thomas Bruce, 80 of Forreston, Texas passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Italy, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born September 30, 1937 in Waxahachie, Texas to Cecil & Jewell Stuart Bruce. Joel was raised in Forreston and graduated from Forreston High School where he was very active in basketball, was the catcher in baseball and ran track. After high school he served in the US Army 144th Infantry of the 49th Army Division from 1961 to 1965. After his time in the military Joel went into the Restaurant business and later was in the trailer business. He also attended the Wagon Wheel Cowboy Church and the Cowboy Church of Ellis County where he was very active in the Little Buckaroo's Program where he helped serve. He was an avid fisherman and spent most of his spare time on the lake. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends and one thing for sure, you always knew when Pops showed up.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law: Rick and Angy Bruce, Grandchildren: Grant and Kelsie Bruce, Blake Bruce and Celi Bruce; Great Grandsons: Garret & Kade Bruce and Great Granddaughter on the way Jaci Bruce. He was also survived by son Tanner Radcliffe, and step-daughter Shelli Dawn Delcamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Allen Bruce.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Forreston Cemetery.
Visitation with the family if scheduled for Monday, April 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
