Joel Dean Anglen, 52, was born to Chester and Nancy Anglen on December 28, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. Joel went home to be with the lord on October 29, 2016 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Joel lived in Miami, Oklahoma until 1977. While in Miami, Joel had a newspaper route and delivered papers to the local businesses on Main Street and the downtown area. In 1977, Joel and his family moved to Waxahachie, Texas. His father, Chester, became the publisher of the Waxahachie Daily Light.
1978 brought about Joel's first battle with brain cancer. Even though it greatly affected him, he never lost his sense of humor, caring for others and love of life. He had incredible parents who took great care of him and enabled him to have a full life.
Joel graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1983. After graduation Joel accepted a position at the Buffalo Creek movie theater as a ticket taker. The part he loved most about his job was being the first person to greet you with his infectious smile.
He is survived by his mother and caregiver, Nancy Sue Anglen; one brother, Aaron Dale Anglen and wife Barbara of Waxahachie, Texas. One sister, Sherry Nanette Parton and husband, Steve of Waxahachie, Texas. Two half-brothers, Rick Dale Anglen and wife Rhonda of Piney Flats, TN and Jim Enos Russell and wife Audrey of Huntsville, AL. Joel was also survived by many nephews and nieces to include Jason, April, Ariel, Dalton, Laurie, Jimmie and Stephanie. There are many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends that will miss him greatly. Finally, Joel is survived by the love of his life, Tammie Gage, whom he cherished for 14 years. He will especially be missed by his grandnephew Lennon Aaron Anglen as they were the best buddies. Joel was preceded in death by his father, Chester Gayle Anglen on November 01, 2011.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 01, 2016 for Visitation at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. The funeral will immediately follow in the chapel at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brady Gonzales, Charles Mangan, Jacob Bohanan, Jon Newlin, Matthew Zeitler and Stephen Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army or Meals on Wheels of Ellis County.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.
