Joe Loftis

Joe Loftis May 14, 1922 - September 12, 2013 Joe Loftis, 91 of Waxahachie passed away Thursday morning at home following a short illness. Joe was born in Comanche Texas to Ola Mae and J. A. Loftis Sr. His family moved to the Waxahachie area when he was a young child. He married Geraldine "Jerri" Spradling on July 29th 1949 in Waxahachie. Joe served in the Army during WW II and worked at LTV for 25 years after his military service. Joe was also a life-long farmer and after retiring from LTV in 1981 Joe spent the remainder of his years doing what he loved best, baling hay and taking care of cattle. Joe was a long time member of Sardis United Methodist Church . Joe was preceded in death by his wife Jerri and his son Larry Joe Loftis, three brothers Jim Loftis, Jerry Loftis and Dick Loftis, his sister, Mae Bennett. He is survived by his daughter Cheree Loftis Williams and her husband Bob of Russellville Ar. and five grandchildren, Cara Casto and husband Jeff, Emily Shores and husband Brian, Amanda Estes and husband Mike, Andrew Williams and wife Mandy and Lindsey Markert and husband Ryan. Seventeen great grandchildren, Kylie, Aubrey, Caleb, Joshua, Abigail, and MacKenzie Casto, Emma, Peyton, Easton, and Alyssa Shores, Lillian Estes, Hunter and Hudson Williams, Jackson, Brayden, Landry and Lyla Markert. Also surviving are two sisters Aleta Staggs and Louise Lanier along with numerous other nephews, nieces family members, close neighbors and friends. The celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday September 14, 2013 at Sardis United Methodist Church with the Reverend Marvin Mott officiating. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery . Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
