Mr. Freeman passed away early Sunday morning at Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie.

Joe Christopher Freeman Jr. was born in Waxahachie to Joe Christopher and Mattie Lee Jacobs Freeman. He was raised in Three Rivers, Texas, moving back to Waxahachie in 1941. He married Jeanne Scott, August 2, 1942 in Waxahachie. J.C. served in the United States Army during WWII as a 1st Sgt. With the 78th Infantry Division in Europe.
During his service he received four battle stars, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, French Croix de Guerre, combat badge, and Presidential Citations. When J. C. came home he went to work for the family business and was the owner of Scott Furniture for 47 years. His civic involvements included: Past President and director of the Waxahachie Country Club, Past President, District Governor, 50 year member, and 25 year perfect attendance of the Waxahachie Lion's Club, Past President of the PTA, Past Chancellor of Commander of Knights of Pythians, Past President Ellis County Purebred Livestock Association, Past Trustee Waxahachie School Board, Trustee Central Presbyterian Church, Charter Member Waxahachie Industrial Foundation, Gold Card Member of Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, and member of the Texas Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
Surviving him are: his wife of 61 years Jeanne Freeman of Waxahachie, 2 daughters; Kaye Almand and her husband Tom of Waxahachie, Jan Burleson and her husband Gary of Pattison, TX. 4 grandchildren; Angie Almand Peck and her husband Randy of Bellville, TX., D"Anne Almand Harrington and her husband Randy of Waxahachie, Kristin Truitt of College Station, Jeremy Truitt and his wife Lisa of Houston, 2 great grandchildren; Gatlin Peck and Madison Truitt. Also surviving is one brother Roy D Freeman and his wife Kay of Waxahachie, 1 sister Virginia Marvin and her husband Randol of Denton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Monday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 19, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Victor Dindot officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Tom Almand, Gary Burleson, Randy Harrington, Randy Peck, Jeremy Truitt, and Scott Carlson.
