Joe Cantu, Jr, “JoJo,” 71, of Waxahachie, TX passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born in Waxahachie on April 19, 1950.
JoJo graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1969. While in high school he ran track and received many medals and honors recognizing his achievements, including the John Bryce Award of Achievement in 1968.
In 1969 he joined the United States Marine Corp, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from military service March 29, 1976. He was a member of the VFW.
He was a retired lineman for Texas Power & Light. JoJo was preceded in death by his father, Joe Cantu Sr., his mother, Naomi Cantu. sister MeMe Leblanc, brother Billy J. Cantu, nephew Evan Cantu, sister-in-law, Peggy Cantu and brother-in-law, Charles Kyte.
He is survived by brother Richard Cantu and sisters Francis Chandler, Carolyn Gunter and spouse Thomas, Gloria Glover and spouse Leon, Cindy Wood and spouse Lynn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
