Joann Brown

Norma Joann (Jenkins) Brown, born to Harry and Violet (Hall) Jenkins on January 24, 1928 in Alton, MO. Passed away on January 10, 2019 in Ennis, TX.

She graduated from Steelville High School, Steelville, MO on May 24, 1946. She received a Diploma in Theology at North Central Bible Institute, Minneapolis, MN on May 25, 1951.

She married Herbert Carroll Brown on August 6, 1955. They were married 62 years. They have lived in Ennis, TX at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home for the last four years.

She was a great mom, wife and grandmother. She loved being around people. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, playing the piano and organ, singing, sewing, volunteering, and making memories with her family. She spent her working years as a secretary in many jobs. Herbert and Joann spent most of their retirement years volunteering for RV MAPS of the Assemblies of God. Their last RV MAPS assignment was at the Teen Challenge Boys Ranch in Bonifay, FL. She worked there as a secretary and as a volunteer. Then they moved to Waxahachie, TX.

She is survived by her husband Herbert Carroll Brown; her three children Carl Devon (Carol Rebecca) Brown of Milledgeville, GA, Susan Rachel Hayes of Waxahachie, TX, and Karen Elizabeth Carter of Industry, ME and Leesville, LA as well as their spouses Clancy Hayes and Lonnie Carter; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; her brother, Phillip Noel Jenkins of Springfield, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Jenkins; her mother, Violet Jenkins; and her brother, Grover Nelson Jenkins.

Celebration of the Home Going of Joann Brown, will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2300 S. Oak Grove Rd, Ennis, TX.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they have all shown and given.
