Jimmy Dwain Vaughn, of Waxahachie, Texas, died at his home on October 28, 2015. He was 65 years old. Jim is survived by his mother, Martha Vaughn, his sister Paula Townsend both of Duncanville, Texas and his brother David Vaughn of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are his daughter Jennifer Rupert and her husband Joe, his son Justin Vaughn and his wife Michelle all of Flower Mound, Texas. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brody and Kate Vaughn and Amelia and Lillian Rupert, and nephew Jonathan Townsend and wife Kathy and many cherished cousins. His father, Lendon Basil Vaughn, and his son, Jason J. Vaughn, preceded him in death. Jim was born on January 7, 1950 in Marlin, Texas to Martha and Lendon Vaughn. Shortly after they moved to Dallas, Texas. Jim graduated Kimball High School in 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Reserve in 1969, spending time in New Orleans and California. He served aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga and Lexington aircraft carrier and was discharged after fulfilling a six year enlistment. After leaving the navy, Jim went on to work at Aviall, now Dallas Airmotive. He worked there for almost 40 years holding many positions, including running the Alison 250 product line. The duty he held most dear was that of a First Responder within the company. He took this assignment very seriously and always looked out for the safety of others. He enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and never missed the opportunity to play with his grandchildren. His love of family inspired him to spearhead the Maxey Family Reunion for the last several years. Jim was also very involved with the Veterans Protecting the Homeland organization. He celebrated being a Veteran and never passed up the opportunity to help a Veteran in need. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday,October 31, 2015 at 10:00 am at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with a reception to follow at Central Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 12:30 PM Tuesday, November 03, 2015. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Ellis County Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 834, Waxahachie, Texas 75168 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
