Jimmy Hitt

Jimmy Rex Hitt, 83, passed away on January 9, 2017 in Red Oak, Texas, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was the 6th child of J. C. and Emily Hitt, born on April 3, 1933.
He was an avid golfer, continuing to enjoy the game through his son and grandson which he could no longer play and watching hours of his favorite, Tiger Woods, from his chair in front of the TV. He could carry on a conversation with anybody but always about the Rangers, the Cowboys and the Mavericks, with a couple of suggestions for their immediate improvement.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving as a military policeman in Germany. His 50 years of work included many titles but most years were spent in titles of Plant Superintendent and Plant Manager for Standard Brands and Standard T. Chemical, being responsible for the paint and coatings sold through Montgomery Ward.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Hazard Hitt; his brother, Harry Hitt; his daughter, Susan Hall and husband, Ralph; his son, David Hitt and wife, Debbie; his grandchildren, Angela Lederman, Kimberly Alexander, Ryan Hitt and Alyssa Hitt; three great grandchildren, Hannah Lederman, Julia Lederman and Deacon Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. He loved his puppies and will be missed by Sassy and Prissy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, including Elva York, Hazel Cockerham, Marguerite Wilson, Carey Hitt and Herbert Dan Hitt.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to the Ellis County SPCA.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
