Jim Tom Johnston March 12, 1935 May 25, 2011 Jim Tom Johnston, a lifelong Ellis County resident, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas. He was born March 12, 1935 in Waxahachie to J.T. Johnston and Erin (Birch) Johnston. He attended Forreston Public Schools from which he graduated in 1953. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1955, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was employed by Larkin Packer Company from 1956-1967, H & H Machine Tools in 1971, and Johnson and Johnson from 1971 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0361 in Ennis and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by four children: Tamara Scott of Waxahahcie, Todd Johnston and wife, Vicki of Forreston, special caregiver Tonya Koopman and husband, Patrick, and Tommy Johnston of Waxhahacie, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Tippi Pyle of Tuluca Lake, California and Eva Salisbury of Waxahachie, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter. Services ti celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:30 PM, Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. H. Lynn Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow at Forreston Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Patrick Koopman, Tommy Johnston, Cameron Wardlaw, Robert Cachat, Joel Bruce, Mike Underwood and Eric Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leland Calvert, R.C.
