Jesus "Jesse" Savala, Sr., 78 of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Central Methodist Hospital of Dallas. He was born to Alejandro & Gregoria Reyes Savala on February 5, 1930 in Leroy, Texas.

Jesse loved singing and being around people and everyone loved being around him. He loved the Lord and enjoyed witnessing to others. Jesse attended church at the Salvation Army Corps in Waxahachie. He retired in 1992 from Owens Corning as a machine attendant. Jesse always put God first in his life and was very committed to his family. He sought God's will for his own life and for the lives of his family. He made a difference in the lives of so many. Jesse's life and example is now left for us all to follow. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ernestine Savala; his children, Eva Jones and her husband, Bob of Hurst, Adam Savala and his wife, Brenda of Waxahachie, Jesse Savala and his wife, Barbara of Cleburne, Lee Savala and his wife, Dee of Waxahachie, Greg Savala and his wife, Julie of Waxahachie, Christopher Savala and his wife, Allie of Waxahachie, Anthony Savala and his wife, Melissa of Waxahachie, Destiny Savala of Itasca; sisters, Lupe Rios of Dallas, Gregoria Ybarra of Hillsboro, Mary Hernandez of Dallas; brothers, Felix Savala of Dallas, Daniel Savala of Dallas; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro & Gregoria Reyes Savala; and his sisters, Rosa Savala and Basilia Zambrano.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Captain Mario Maldonado and Nathan Bickerstaff officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
