Jesse Leon Ohr passed away peacefully, January 16, 2004 in the home he built for his family near Ovilla, Texas. He was born in rural Ovilla, September 20, 1920. He was a lifelong member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder for over fifty years and as Session Clerk for over forty five years.

He served his country during World War II. He flew twenty eight combat missions as a bombardier on B-29 long range bombers in the Pacific with the 20th Air Force. He was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and left the service at the end of the war with the rank of Captain. He retired from Ford Motor Company after twenty five years and was manager of Sardis-Lone Elm Water Supply Corporation for twelve years.

He is survived by: a daughter, Charlotte Smith and her husband John of Olympia, WA.; a son, Charles Ohr and his wife Gwen of Waxahachie, TX.; four grandchildren, Amy Hopkins and her husband Paul, Jason Ohr, Jennifer Prugh and her husband Nate and Jay Smith; seven great grandchildren, Jessica Bateman and her husband John, Brandon and Sarah Wayman, Andrew Hopkins, Katie Smith, Devon Gaston and Haylie Prugh; one great great grandson, John Clemen Bateman V; two step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in law; and his special friend and caregiver Jean Billingsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Nona Ohr; his brother Grady Ohr; his sister Beatrice Washington; his half-sister, Inez Brown; his loving wife of forty nine years, Florene Terry Ohr, who died in 1991; seven brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Monday, January 19, 2004 at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7810 Shiloh Rd., Midlothian, TX. with Reverend Duane Dougherty and Reverend James Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
