Jesse Gorman

December 30, 1939 — June 14, 2021

Waxahachie

On June 14, 2021, at 6:25 pm Jesse Edwin Gorman of Waxahachie peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born December 30, 1939, in Bardwell, Texas to H.C. and Christine (Story) Gorman. He graduated from Waxahachie in 1958. He was married to Jona (Macey) Gorman, for 40 years and they had three children.

Attending school in Bardwell, he transferred to Waxahachie his Junior year of High School because J.W Williams wanted him to play basketball for WHS. Jesse played center and during his senior year, the Waxahachie basketball team won the 3A State Championship in Austin, Texas. He was elected Most Handsome his senior year.

Jesse enlisted with the National Guard in 1957 and served until 1963 when he reenlisted and served in the United States Army 144th Infantry until his honorable discharge in 1965. During his service, Jesse was an Expert Rocket Launcher, 2nd Class Gunner, Fire Team Leader and Sharpshooter, it was during this time that his expertise was prominent during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Jesse retired from Kerr Glass/Saint Gobain after 39 years where he was the Warehouse manager/Traffic manager.

Jesse had many hobbies, but his favorite was fishing. Water was healing to him, he loved going out to the lake; if he wasn’t at Richland Chambers, you could find him at Bardwell, Navarro Mills or even as far as Texoma.  But most of all Jesse loved going to the Tic-Tac-Toe Ranch on the outskirts of Frost.  He liked working on lawn mowers and was obsessed in keeping his yard immaculate.  He loved watching basketball especially the NBA Finals, and football of course.  You could always catch him at home on Monday nights watching WWE.  He loved telling jokes and he never met a stranger; he was a true friend to everyone. Jesse’s true love was his family, he adored each of them.  He loved his grandkids and would take them to school in the mornings singing to them.  He loved his great grandson Mateo which was his shadow daily.  Jesse was also a father figure to so many, he truly had a gentle soul. Poker and Dominos was a fun pastime for him, and you could even find him square-dancing back in the day. He once smoked a pipe, but he preferred Red Man Chewing tobacco. Jesse made the best salmon patties and homemade ice-cream.  Jesse was one of a kind, the Best of the Best and we will forever cherish our memories and love for him always until we see him again.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Jona.

He was survived by Anthony Gorman and wife Kaylene of Midlothian, Bryan Gorman and wife Tippi from Waxahachie and Jessica Gorman Branden and husband Richard from Ferris, Texas. 9 grandchildren: Dakota Tole, (Oscar Lopez) Taylor Tole, Steven Watson (Ledine), Patrick Sims, David Sims, Niki Sims Harper, Jamie Grimes, Chelsea Lafleur, Desiree Branden.
