Jesse "J. D." Farmer Jesse "J.D." Farmer, 84 of Waxahachie, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Waxahachie. He was born to the late William Claude and Coy Lee Steele Farmer on April 7, 1926 in Corsicana, Texas. J. D. served in the United States Army during WWII. After his honorable discharge from the military, he became a self-employed business owner in the Waxahachie community who was well-known and respected. His last place of business was located on Business 287, where he worked as a mechanic; provided wrecker service; and bought and sold used cars until 2005. He is survived by his daughters Karen Hartis of Garland, Pam Stroope and her husband Jack of Waxahachie, Debbie Jones and her husband Dallas of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Eric Hartis and his wife Tricia, Jessica Baker and her husband Jon, Justin Stroope and his wife Julie, Tiffany Allen and her husband Glenn, Joshua Stroope and Erin Jones, all of Waxahachie; he is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Nikki Hartis, Danika Hartis, Dylan Hartis, Holden Allen, Hunter Allen, Dawson Baker, Gavin Stroope, and Hannah Allen, all of Waxahachie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maxine Farmer in 2000; and by his brother, William C. Farmer in 2000. J.D. died peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy hospital stay. According to his family, he was more than ready to go and was quoted as recently commenting "I can truthfully say that it's been a great ride." Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. www.waynebozefuneralhome.com
