Jerry Grant Middlestead, 67 of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Irving. He was born to William G. and Lee Emma Mayfield Middlestead on October 4, 1941 in Chicasha, OK.
Jerry loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He loved playing the guitar and was a member of the Just Friends Band and played every Tuesday with Buddy and the Boys. He sang Bluegrass, Gospel and Country & Western music. Jerry was a member of the Danieldale Baptist Church in Dallas. He leaves behind so many friends and family that loved him and will miss him.
He is survived by his son, David Middlestead of Mansfield; his daughters, Lisa Middlestead of Waxahachie, Nita Freeman and her husband, David of Edmond, OK; his fiance', Nancy Kelly of Sun City, CA; his sister, Barbara Kipp of Medford, OR; his uncle, James Mayfield of Midlothian; his 3 grandchildren, Shanna Sumner, Dalton Sumner, and Timber Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lee Emma Fleck, and father, William G. Middlestead.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Chaplain Doy Cloninger officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home and will last until service time.
