Jennie Ruth Tucker, age 89

Mrs. Jennie Ruth Tucker of Waxahachie passed away Sunday evening at her home. She was born November 27, 1916 at Buena Vista, Ellis County, Texas, to Effie Odom Paul and Ollie Paul. A graduate of Waxahachie High School and Trinity University, she and Weldon Tucker were married June 11, 1944.

An active member and an elder in the Central Presbyterian Church, she held various offices in Presbyterian Women's Association and taught Sunday School classes.

Mrs. Tucker taught public school twenty three years and was elected outstanding teacher of the year 1973-74 by the Waxahachie Classroom Teachers' Association. After retiring, she was elected to the board of trustees of Waxahachie Independent School District and served six years.

She was elected First Lady of Waxahachie in 1988 and honored by the Beta Signa Phi Chapter of Waxahachie.

Her survivors are: daughters, Nancy Post and grandson, Peter Tucker Post of San Francisco, CA., Linda and Frank Brandt of Flagstaff, AZ; brothers and sister-in-law, David C. and Lorraine Paul of San Antonio, and Eugene Paul of Dallas; also nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5:30-7:30 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Central Presbyterian Church, Waxahachie. A Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2006, also at the Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie, with Reverend Victor Dindot officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Children's Home, Waxahachie, or Habitat for Humanity.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
