Jean Strickland Wright, 82, passed away on December 3, 2014 in Dallas. Jean was born on September 7, 1932 to Leotis and Mildred (Hughes) Strickland in Waxahachie, Texas. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and genealogy. She also was a caregiver to her two aunts during their battle with Alzheimer's disease. She will be greatly missed by her family. Jean graduated from Waxahachie High School at sixteen. She was employed by several cotton buyers, worked at the old Cotton Compress in Waxahachie and also worked at RKO Pictures in Dallas in the late forties. She was a legal secretary at the law office of Warwick Jenkins for many years. She was employed at Republic Bank Oak Cliff in the 1980s serving as Banking Operations Officer in 1984, Assistant Vice President in 1985 and Vice President of the Real Estate Department thereafter. She retired at age 65 from NationsBank, N.A. where she was a Vice President and Commercial Loan Closer. Jean is survived by her children, Kim Wright, Tommy Wright and girlfriend, Kelly Greer; George Zdansky and Robbie Roberts; sisters, Sandra Strickland and Kathi Getzendaner and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Justin Deal and wife, Barbara Dozier; Seth Wright and wife, Leia; Amber Barnhill, Whitney Laza and husband, Jimmy; Cadie Pylant, Taylor Wright, and Emma Wright; great-grandchildren, Gwyneth Sauceda, Matt Bridges, Brody Turner, Kaden Wright, Rylan Figueroa, Jace Laza, and Weston Laza; nephews Bill, David and Tim Terry; Chris and Matt Ballard; Adam Hallmark, Billy and Blake Getzendaner; niece, Katie Getzendaner; cousin and best friend, Benny Cason of Ft. Worth and wife Carolyn; and cousins Cynthia Cason Agee; Andrea Strickland Thomas, Mary Beth Strickland Gardner; Conjetta Lanza Goolsby; Andy and Steve Schellenberg; Teddy Hughes and Linda Hughes Lewis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Hendrickson; and son, Joseph Wright. A special thank you is given to dear family friend and long-time caregiver, Dolores Ruiz (and family) and many thanks to friends and caregivers, Mary Philbin and Charlene Reynolds. Graveside services for Jean will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2 pm at the Waxahachie City Cemetery with Reverend Mary Jean Cope officiating. Music will be provided by Melissa Baker. Visitation of family and friends will be on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, TX 75165. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jean's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alzfdn.org.
