Jay Michael Webb, 45, of Austin, died at his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.  Jay was born December 15, 1975 in Abilene, Texas to John and Shirley Webb.  Jay graduated from Red Oak High School in 1994 where he was active in the One Act play productions. He earned his BA in Radio Television Film from the University of North Texas, graduating cum laude in 1998. He was pursuing a Masters in Technical and Scientific Communication at Texas State University. Jay began his career working for several newspapers in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex and enjoyed doing movie, music, and concert reviews as a freelance writer as well. His most recent jobs were as a copy editor for several websites. He loved his current job and coworkers at PrintGlobe in Austin.

Jay loved life and was a kind soul to everyone. He enjoyed concerts, movies and anything Marvel-related. He enjoyed comic books, Marvel toys, Transformers, Star Wars figures, and books about Marvel, music and movies.  He ran the Dallas Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot many times and also ran the White Rock Marathon.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Bernice Cleere and Arlis and Robbie Tounget, and his father John Albert Webb, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Webb of Ovilla, brother John Webb, Jr. of Ovilla, sister Shelly Gribble and brother-in-law Michael Gribble of Kilgore, Texas, aunt Donna Michelle of Phoenix, Arizona and uncle Richard Gwyn of Texarkana, Texas, three nieces: Delayna Gribble, Halley Sanders and her husband Seth, Hannah Gribble, and numerous cousins.

The family is eternally grateful to Jay’s many friends in Austin who have jumped in to care for him in the recent difficult months - taking meals, giving rides to medical appointments, continuing to keep his spirits up and hopes high.  Special thanks to Jay’s dear friend Jack McFarlane who came to care for Jay in his final days with great care and compassion.

The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, March 2nd from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. A service will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas on Wednesday, March 3rd at 2:00 pm followed by interment at Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ovilla, Texas.
