Jay Burl Jones went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on the 14th of September, 2013, at the age of 60. He passed from this life to the next while at home, surrounded by his wife of almost 40 years, and his two daughters. The Lord gave him an additional 14 full and wonderful years on earth after a successful liver transplant by a generous donor. Jay was born on November 17, 1952 to Burl and Marie Jones of Houston, Texas. He grew up in Houston and married the love of his life, Cynthia Hodges, on January 19, 1974. He enjoyed his work as a machinist until moving to the southwest Dallas area where he became a delivery driver. He was passionate about history and loved to travel with his beloved. His favorite pastime was spending time with his 9 grandchildren and his church family of Community Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and an avid coin collector. His family loved his humor, the way he posed for crazy pictures, and ability to make a joke at just the time it was needed. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of almost 40 years; daughter, Christine Salinas and son-in-law, Pete Salinas; daughter, Kimberly Davidson and son-in-law, Brady Davidson; grandchildren, Christian Salinas, Paige Salinas, Brason Salinas, Landon Salinas, Aiden Salinas, Noelle Salinas, Jayden Davidson, Hope Salinas, and Faith Salinas; sister, LaDonna Norris; brother-in-law, Jerry Hodges; sisters-in-law, Crystal Hodges and Nelda Hodges; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jaron Truth Salinas and Baby Salinas; brothers-in-law, James Norris, Andy Hodges, and Dennis Hodges; parents-in-law, Frances and Frank Trimyer, Bill and Louise Lewis. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Community Baptist Church, Ferris, with Pastor Mickey Moriarty officiating. Interment will follow at the Ferris Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.
