It is with great sadness that the family of Jay Gerald Jones of Lancaster, Texas announces his passing after a long battle with cancer, on April 20, 2007 at the age of 64 years.

Gerald was born in Amarillo, Texas on February 16, 1943. Gerald was an accomplished truck driver for 40 years. Just recently he received the 2 million Mile Safe Driving Award with Lasco Bathwares where he worked for the last 22 years. One of his proudest moments of his career was being asked to participate in the movement of the original casting of the Iwo Jima Memorial Sculpture from Rhode Island to the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas.`

Mr. Jones, as affectionately called by so many young people, was a supporter and volunteer of the Lancaster FFA for 30 years, the Lancaster Rodeo Team and a volunteer soccer coach for many years. When not working or helping the kids Gerald's passion was photography.

Gerald will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 29 years, Vickie and his children, David (Staceee), Troy (Patti), Joey Osburn (Jeannie), Kim Brown (Michael), Stephen Osburn (Heidi) and Matthew (Christina). Gerald will also be fondly remembered by his 13 grandchildren, Casey, Cody, Richard, Justin, Joshua Jeremy, Katherine, Paige, Jacob, Morgan, Nathan, Cooper, Michael and one great grandson Adam. Gerald is also survived by his sisters Josephine Highsmith and Joyce McDonnold (George) and two brothers Jack and Charlie.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas . A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas at 11:00AM on Monday April 23, 2007.
