Jason Joel "J.J." Escobar, 22 of Arlington, formerly of San Antonio, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1985 in McAllen, Texas.
Jason was the proud recipient of the "Presidential Award" in 1999, a prestigious award given to only one student upon graduation from the Barbara Bush Middle School in San Antonio. He graduated from San Antonio Ronald Reagan High School in 2003. He was an athletic trainer for the Reagan baseball and football teams and was a member of the marching band. Jason was currently a junior at the University of Texas at Arlington where he majored in mechanical/aerospace engineering and marketing and had been named to the Dean's List. He was accepted into the Texas Aerospace Scholars' (TAS) Internship Program funded by NASA in 2006. He loved computers and enjoyed working. You could always find him joking, he loved making others laugh. He was someone everyone knew they could rely on and he will be missed by so many friends and family members.
He is survived by his parents, Joel E. & Noelia Escobar of San Antonio; brother, James D. Escobar of Ann Arbor, MI; sister, Denise A. Kessell and her husband, David of Jackson, OH; maternal grandmother, Esther Juarez of Waxahachie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Benito P. Juarez; paternal grandparents, Enemencio & Margarita Escobar.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie with Rev. Rudy DeLeon officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at the funeral home.
